Class of 1972 Reunion
Our 40th Anniversary Class Reunion will be July 27-28th, 2012 in Corbin. On the Friday, July 27th we will have a dinner/get-together for our class only at the Depot on Main. Everyone will be responsible for their own bill that night. On Saturday, July 28th will will have a really big pig roast reunion at Truman Perry's (1982) farm in Woodbine. It will be $10/ person at the gate. This will be for classes 1972-1982, but "crashers" are welcome:) We will have food, "beverages", music (from that decade) and of course, really good company. There will be a photographer there (so bring money for that too) to make class pictures. It will start around 7:00 pm. I will try to get a tour of the new Corbin High School for those interested on Sat afternoon or morning. Now I know this is over a year away, but make hotel reservations and ask off work and make plans now! We hope to see everyone there before we all "kick the bucket". Also, tell your friends and siblings about the reunion. We hope to have a great turnout since our last reunion will have been 11 years ago!
Corbin High School Class of 1972
We have exciting news! We are planning a 40th Class Reunion for the Class of 1972. It will be the weekend of July 27-28, 2012 so make plans NOW. I don’t want someone to not attend because of previous plans. Think of it as “mandatory”. Just kidding, but several class members have passed away so there aren’t as many left and we need to get together while we’re still able.
Corbin has really changed A LOT! So part of the fun will be driving around trying to find things! Most of the changes are good changes, but also some sad changes too. The Dixie Restaurant is closed, Jerry’s is gone, Krystal Kitchen and Fad Pool Hall gone. But, the CHS Football Field and City Pool is still there, Root Beer Stand still thriving, Cumberland Falls still there, etc.
So, here are the details. On Friday night (July 27th at 7:00 p.m.) our class will have a reunion at The Depot restaurant. This is the nicest restaurant in Corbin and it is located where Daniels Dept Store was located on Main Street. We will meet in the Comedy room. Bruce Carpenter is one of the owners. Bring your spouse or significant other or just come alone. You will be able to have dinner and beverages, but everyone pays their own bill and that will help keep the cost down. You won’t have to buy anything is you don’t want. The food there is fabulous however, and the prices are reasonable. You will not be allowed to bring in food. This night will give us a chance to get reacquainted and reminisce about our class.
On Saturday afternoon, I am trying to arrange a tour of Corbin High School and Corbin Middle School. CMS is located in the old CHS building. It will probably be around 1:00 pm. We could all eat at the Root Beer Stand prior to the tour if you like!I
On Saturday, July 28th, we will have a big reunion with all the classes from 1972-1982 and hopefully some crashers from some of the other classes too. We will be meeting at Dr. Truman Perry’s (CHS- Class of 1982) farm in Woodbine, KY at 6:00 p.m. This is very casual and outdoors. We will provide the food, BBQ and veggies, desserts) and non-alcoholic beverages (water, Pepsi products). It will cost $10.00 / person for the food. You can B.Y.O.B. if you want or if you want to bring something special to eat you can. Families are welcome- $10/ person. We will be providing music from the 1970s and 1980s. This will be $10 / pre-paid or $15 at the gate event.
Corbin has an excellent cab service (Venture Cabs) and many nice hotels / motels, including Cumberland Falls. If enough people stay there, they will be able to run their shuttle.
We have a website: Go to redhound reunion info. Ron Hungerbuhler put it together. We also have a facebook page if you’re on facebook. For more info, check the Redhound Reunion page. If you have a Pay Pal account, you can pre-pay by going to *****@bellsouth.net Or you can mail your checks ($10 per person) to Hometown Bank, c/o Sherry Logan, 1030 Cumberland Falls Hwy, Corbin, KY 40701. Make checks payable to “Redhound Reunion”. There is no charge for Friday nights’ activity. Everyone just pays for the own dinner / drinks.
Hope to see you there! Please RSVP!
